ARLINGTON, Texas -- Roy Oswalt looked right at home in his debut with the Texas Rangers.
Making his first major league start in more than eight months, Oswalt pitched effectively into the seventh inning and the Rangers won their seventh straight game, beating the slumping Colorado Rockies 4-1 on Friday night.Oswalt, who pitched more than 10 years in the National League with Houston and Philadelphia, made four minor league starts after signing with the Rangers on May 29.Durrett: Oswalt a natural with Rangers
In his first start with the Rangers, Roy Oswalt threw strikes and attacked hitters. No wonder Texas CEO Nolan Ryan likes him so much, Richard Durrett writes. Story
Game notes

Research Notes
From Elias: Roy Oswalt's start tonight ends the Rangers' streak of 175 consecutive games in which it used a starting pitcher who made his major league debut for them.
That was the second-longest current streak of its kind in the majors. The Rays have used a starting pitcher who began his MLB career for them in each of their last 234 games ENTERING tonight. |
