Kevin Gausman allowed three bombs for the second straight start and the Orioles lost 6-2 to the Red Sox to fall three games back in the AL East. Since pitching eight scoreless against the Yankees on May 5th, Gausman has a 5.34 ERA and a 1.43 WHIP in five outings. Among MLB hurlers with at least eight starts, he's one of only two that are still winless (Detroit's Mike Pelfrey is the other).

Scott Kazmir is matching Jake Arrieta pitch for pitch at Wrigley Field tonight. He's given up just a single and a walk, both to Dexter Fowler, while striking out the hottest hitter in the league as Ben Zobrist has whiffed twice. Arrieta has given up 2 hits and a walk. It's 0-0 Bot 5.

A matchup against the Cubs' Jake Arrieta has brought out the best in Dodgers starter Scott Kazmir. Through four innings, Kazmir has given up just one hit with five strikeouts. The lefty is coming off a 12-strikeout game last week against the Reds.

Matt Holliday is heating up. He hit the longest home run of this Cardinals' season on Monday, a 456-foot blast over the left-field bleachers at Miller Park. In the fifth inning Tuesday, he fought back from an 0-and-2 count against Wily Peralta for an RBI single, his second of the night. Holliday has 10 hits in his last 15 at-bats to raise his average from .227 to .264.

Steven Matz's streak of wins in seven straight starts is over. Matz departed after 5 2/3 innings with a 4-3 lead. But Tyler Saladino belted a two-run homer against Hansel Robles in the eighth to give the White Sox a one-run edge and hand Matz a no-decision. The Mets record remains Frank Viola earning a win in nine straight starts spanning the 1989 and '90 seasons.

Adrian Gonzalez is back to a .300 batting average after a first-inning single against the Cubs' Jake Arrieta. The veteran's offensive production took a tumble in late April, when he went 0-for-20 on a six-game homestand. He has been productive of late, going 14-for-37 since May 21, including eight hits in the recent three-game series at New York against the Mets.
