Yasiel Puig is on a tear, and that could go a long way toward maintaining the Los Angeles Dodgers' dominance of the New York Mets.

Having Hyun-jin Ryu back on the mound could also provide a lift.

With Puig seeking another big offensive display, Ryu is slated to return from the disabled list to try and continue his dominance on the road Wednesday night against the sputtering Mets.

Puig has a .411 average with six homers and 22 RBIs in 18 games, managing at least one hit in all but one of those contests. He had three with a double and an RBI while reaching base five times in Tuesday's 9-4 win to open this series at Citi Field.

The right fielder has gone 6 for 14 with two doubles and four runs over his last three meetings with the Mets (20-24), and that's helped the Dodgers (24-22) to a 10-1 mark in the last 11 matchups.

They're expected to turn to Ryu (3-2, 3.00 ERA) as they try for their first six-game winning streak over New York since 1996.

The left-hander, though, allowed six runs in five innings of a 6-1 loss to Colorado in his last outing April 27. Ryu has been sidelined with shoulder inflammation, but he's not anticipating any limitations during his return.

"I feel healthy and I don't feel I need to be extra careful during my start," Ryu told the team's official website. "The only difference is the extra shoulder exercises I'm doing after the injury. Otherwise, my routine is normal. I'm not aware of any pitch limitations, but that's not up to me.

"The hard part about being out is that I kind of felt bad for the rotation. I felt I wasn't able to pull my load for the team while on the sidelines. Now that I'm coming back, I will be able to contribute."

Ryu has certainly done that on the road, tossing 26 consecutive scoreless innings while going 3-0 through his first four starts. It's the longest road shutout streak to start a season by a Dodger since 1974.

He's yielded one run in seven innings in both of his career starts against the Mets, going 1-0.

New York, a season-worst four games under .500, has batted .207 while dropping five of six games. However, the Mets racked up 11 hits Tuesday, with Curtis Granderson coming within a triple of the cycle and Lucas Duda adding a two-run homer.

Granderson was 1 for 14 over the previous four games, while Duda has a .177 average at home.

A rare recent bright spot for the Mets was the major league debut of Jacob deGrom, who is getting at least one more turn in the rotation with Dillon Gee on the DL due to a strained right lat muscle.

DeGrom was a hard-luck loser in a 1-0 defeat to the New York Yankees on Thursday, yielding one run and four hits in seven innings.

"It makes you feel good when you go out and your debut's good," he told the team's official website. "You want to prove you can pitch at this level. That was my goal to keep the game close and give us a chance to win."

The right-hander also had one of the Mets' three singles Thursday, and he remains their only pitcher to get a hit in 72 at-bats this season.
