While a late outburst helped them win during Carlos Gomez's absence, the Milwaukee Brewers are hoping he won't stay out of the lineup for long.

The Brewers center fielder is dealing with a sore hamstring, and his status is unknown for Tuesday night's road game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Milwaukee (42-29) broke a tie with a combined six runs in the final two innings in Monday's 9-3 victory in the series opener at Chase Field. Aramis Ramirez and Ryan Braun struck the big blows with a two-run double in the eighth and a two-run triple in the ninth, respectively.

The Brewers improved to 3-4 without Gomez, including three games due to a suspension last month. He leads the team with 38 RBIs while ranking second with 12 homers and a .313 average.

Gomez is riding a 13-game hit streak -- the team's best since his 14-game run last season -- and has reached base in 30 straight. That's the longest active streak in the majors and longest by a Brewer since Prince Fielder's 33-gamer in 2007.

"He's a little sore. It isn't just (a routine day off)," manager Ron Roenicke told the team's website. "I really had to give him today off. ... I'm hoping it's just today."

Roenicke's club will try for its eighth win in 12 games and fourth in a row on the road behind Kyle Lohse (7-2, 3.00 ERA), who bounced back from his worst start of the season with a strong effort Thursday. The right-hander gave up one unearned run in eight innings of a 5-1, 13-inning victory over the New York Mets, six days after being tagged for eight runs in five innings in a 15-5 loss to Pittsburgh.

Lohse is 1-2 with a 5.63 ERA in seven career starts in Arizona and lost there in his last matchup with the Diamondbacks, giving up five runs in 6 1/3 innings of a 5-4 defeat July 13. He had yielded two runs in his previous 17 2/3 innings against them.

Arizona starter Wade Miley (3-6, 4.71) won both of his matchups with the Brewers last year with a 2.57 ERA.

However, the Diamondbacks have lost five of his last six starts, providing the left-hander just 11 runs of support as he's gone 0-3. He's also 0-4 with a 5.84 ERA in his last six at home.

Miley did pitch well in his last home game, giving up one earned run in seven innings of a 4-3, 11-inning win over Atlanta on June 7, but struggled again Thursday in Houston. He gave up four runs and seven hits in five innings of a 5-4 defeat in 10 innings. He had eight strikeouts in that game and has totaled 33 over his last 25 innings.

Miley has given up a combined six homers in his last three outings, including two Thursday.

Braun has homered twice in five career at-bats against him and has a .741 slugging percentage in his last 13 games at Chase Field with five homers and 17 RBIs. Gomez is 4 for 12 with a homer, a triple and a double versus Miley.

Arizona's Paul Goldschmidt, batting .382 with four homers during a 10-game hit streak, went 1 for 5 with two strikeouts against Lohse last season.

The Diamondbacks (30-43) have lost five of six.
