Red Sox 15
(53-31, 28-14 home)
7:05 PM ET, July 5, 2007
Fenway Park, Boston, Massachusetts
W: J. Beckett (12-2)
L: J. Howell (1-3)
![]() Beckett • Goats: Tampa Bay's pitching was battered all night. Starter J.P. Howell allowed six runs, all earned, on six hits in just 2/3 of an inning; relievers Brian Stokes, Jon Switzer and Jason Hammel combined to give up nine runs, all earned, and 11 hits in 3 1/3 innings. • Figure this: The Devil Rays were swept for the third straight series. A fourth this weekend in Kansas City would pull them within one of the franchise record of 15 straight losses set in 2002. • Quotable: "There's some other guys as deserving as I am. I'll be happy if he chooses me." -- Beckett, on being in contention to start the All-Star Game -- ESPN.com news services |
