ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -- No matter how badly Garret Anderson may be slumping, he's always a dangerous hitter.
Anderson hit a two-run homer with two outs in the eighth inning after Vladimir Guerrero had tied it with an RBI single, and the Los Angeles Angels beat the Oakland Athletics 5-3 on Tuesday night.Fast Facts
• Garret Anderson's go-ahead homer in the eighth inning was his first dinger since June 10.
• Angels closer Francisco Rodriguez earned his MLB-best 33rd save of the season. He is now one shy of tying John Smoltz's 2003 record for most saves at the All-Star break.
• Brad Ziegler pitched two perfect innings in relief for the A's. He hasn't allowed a run in 15 innings spanning his first 14 major league appearances. The the longest such streak by an Oakland pitcher to start a career is 15 1/3 innings, which Steve Chitren did in September 1990.

Game notes
The Angels had failed to score more than one run in each of their previous four games. It was the franchise's longest such streak since May 13-18, 1969, when they played six straight without scoring two or more and were shut out three times. ... The Angels' 3.31 team ERA in June was the second-best in the majors behind Oakland's 3.24.
