Red Sox survive Teixeira's homers, get first win at Yankee Stadium
NEW YORK -- The Boston Red Sox got off to a better start at the new Yankee Stadium than the old one.
Jon Lester matched a career high with 10 strikeouts, Mike Lowell and Jason Bay homered and the Red Sox held off New York 6-4 Monday night in a rain-delayed game that ended at 1:10 a.m.Fast Facts
• Mark Teixeira had two solo home runs and Johnny Damon also homered for the Yankees, who loaded the bases in the ninth against Jonathan Papelbon before the Boston closer struck out Robinson Cano to end the game.
• The Red Sox have now won their last five games against the Yankees dating back to last season.
• Jason Bay was 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBI's and Mike Lowell was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI's as the Red Sox outlasted the Yankees in a game delayed over two hours at the start by rain.
