Hawpe's power propels Rockies past Pirates in three-run ninth inning
PITTSBURGH -- The Colorado Rockies felt they were robbed of a tying run in the eighth inning. So they went out and won it in the ninth.
Brad Hawpe's two-run homer was part of Colorado's three-run ninth inning and the Rockies rallied for a 3-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday night.Fast Facts
• Brad Hawpe's two-run home run off of Pirates closer Matt Capps gave the Rockies their third win in their last eight games. Hawpe is now 8-14 with 10 RBIs in his last four games.
• Jorge de la Rosa was denied the win despite posting double-digit strikeouts for the second straight game.
• Paul Maholm bounced back from giving up seven earned runs in his last start to give up zero earned runs over seven innings on Friday.
• The blown save was Matt Capps' second of the season. The Pirates lost for the 10th time in their last 12 games.

Colorado's Ryan Spilborghs made a home run-saving catch in the left field corner on a ball hit by Jack Wilson leading off the third. He also made a basket catch with two on and two outs in the eighth on a ball hit by Adam LaRoche. "You can't play left field better than Ryan did tonight," Hurdle said. ...
