DENVER -- Ryan Spilborghs desperately wanted a chance at redemption. With the Colorado Rockies looking at a heartbreaking loss, he got his shot and didn't waste it.
Spilborghs hit a grand slam in the bottom of the 14th inning, giving the Rockies a come-from-behind 6-4 victory over the San Francisco Giants on Monday night.Olney on Rockies
Colorado ownership said yes when most other mid-level bosses were saying no, and general manager Dan O'Dowd was able to do the things that have helped spur a Rockies run that resembles one we saw back when the team was in the World Series. Blog Fast Facts
• The Rockies won on the latest grand slam in baseball since May 17, 2002.
• Ryan Spilborghs launched his first career walk-off HR and his second career grand slam to turn a 4-2 deficit into a 6-4 win. It was the fourth walk-off grand slam this season and the first in Colorado history.
• Jason Marquis (8 IP, 1 ER) and Barry Zito (6 IP, 0 ER) had their strong outings overshadowed, though Zito now has a 2.17 ERA in August this season.
• The Rockies have won seven of eight while the Giants have lost three straight and are now four games behind the Rockies for the NL wild card.
