Fielder hits 40th home run, sets another club mark with 100th walk
MILWAUKEE -- Yovani Gallardo wanted to end his season on a positive note. Thanks to Corey Hart, Prince Fielder and Jody Gerut, that's what he did.
Fielder hit his 40th homer and Gallardo pitched five strong innings to help Milwaukee complete a sweep of the Houston Astros with a 6-0 win on Sunday. Gallardo will be shut down the rest of the season to keep his innings down."To end on a good note is always good and got a win and finished the year off strong," said Gallardo, who was on a pitch count and would not have gone beyond the fifth inning. • Prince Fielder hit his 40th home run, his second career 40-HR season (50 in 2007). He's the second playe rin Brewers history with a pair of 40+ HR seasons (Richie Sexson).

Manager Ken Macha and the entire Brewers team presented a trophy to Prince Fielder in a pregame ceremony at homeplate. Astros manager Cecil Cooper, who set the record in 1983, came out to shake hands with Fielder. ... Carlos Lee's second-inning double extended his hitting streak to a season-high 12 games. ... The Astros lost for the 18th time in the team's last 23 games at Miller Park. ... Doug Davis and Teddy Higuera, who did it twice, also passed the 200 strikeout plateau for Milwaukee.
