Tropicana Field, St. Petersburg, Florida
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Rays' frustrating weekend can be summed up with one image: Stars B.J. Upton and Evan Longoria standing nose-to-nose in a heated dugout spat.
Upton pointed a finger in Longoria's face after the third baseman questioned the center fielder's effort in the fifth inning Sunday, when Gerardo Parra hit a two-run homer that helped give the Arizona Diamondbacks a 2-1 win over the slumping Rays.Fast Facts

• The Diamondbacks got their 1,000th win as a franchise, winning for the third time in their last 19 road games.
• B.J. Upton got into a dugout altercation with Evan Longoria, got picked off first base, and flew out to the fence to end the game.
• The Rays have lost 11 of 16.
Game notes
Jackson, who threw 149 pitches and walked eight Friday in his no-hitter, will have his next start pushed back from Wednesday to Friday or Saturday. ... Rays LF Carl Crawford (sore left shoulder) was out of the lineup for third straight game, but did pinch run in the eighth.Copyright by STATS LLC and The Associated Press

Research Notes
From Elias:
Following Edwin Jackson's no-hitter on Friday, the Rays posted five hits on Saturday and only two on Sunday. That gives them a total of seven base hits in the entire three-game series with the Diamondbacks.
The last team to finish with seven or fewer hits in a 3-game series was the 1965 New York Mets. They were one-hit by the Milwaukee Braves on both September 10 and 11 before exploding for five hits (and a 1-0 victory!) in the series finale on the 12th. |
From Elias: The Rays were held to two hits or fewer twice by the Diamondbacks in this series today.
The last team to be held to two hits or fewer twice in the same series was actually these Diamondbacks against the Giants on May 28-29. |
