NEW YORK -- Pitching on a rainy night in a nearly empty ballpark, Mike Pelfrey stayed focused on his preseason goals: 15 wins, 200 innings.
The big right-hander checked off that 15th victory Thursday, tossing seven strong innings and hitting a tiebreaking single to help the New York Mets finish a four-game sweep with a 6-2 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates.Mets blog

Chris Snyder-- who is, we would point out, a catcher-- was intentionally walked TWICE by Mike Pelfrey to get to the pitcher's spot. The third time around the order, Snyder was pinch-hit for.
The last catcher to be intentionally walked in every one of his plate appearances (2 or more) in a game was Ivan Rodriguez back on June 25, 1997. | ||||||||||||||
