LOS ANGELES -- The Colorado Rockies are hoping to ride Troy Tulowitzki's phenomenal homer streak right into the postseason.
Tulowitzki hit two more home runs Saturday -- tying a modern major league record with 14 in a 15-game stretch -- and the Rockies kept up their pursuit of a playoff spot by routing the Los Angeles Dodgers 12-2 for their 20th victory in 26 games.More From ESPNLosAngeles.com
John Ely didn't exactly strengthen his case to make the 2011 starting rotation for the Dodgers on Saturday, getting knocked out after 4 1/3 subpar innings, writes Tony Jackson. Story
Most powerful September
Troy Tulowitzki hit his 14th home run this month, and they've all come in the last 15 games. He's the first player with 14 homers in September/October since Alfonso Soriano hit 14 in 2007. It's also the most home runs in a calendar month in Rockies history.

Research Notes
Troy Tulowitzki continued his torrid September on Saturday, hitting his 13th and 14th home runs this month, all coming in his last 15 games. He joins Albert Belle in 1995 and Barry Bonds in 2001 as the only players since 1900 to hit 14 homers in a 15 game span, according to Elias.
Whether it's pitch type, location or count, it hasn't mattered to Tulo this month - he's hitting everything in every situation. He's putting the ball in the air far more often (50.8 fly ball pct in Sept., 37.8 before Sept.) and the ball is flying out at an incredible rate. Nearly half of his fly balls are leaving the yard, more than four times the rate before September. [+]Troy Tulowitzki
