Game notes
The Indians are in the unusual position of playing a pair of two-game series on a four-game road trip. After two in K.C., they'll fly to Chicago for two with the White Sox before returning home. ... It was LaPorta's second four-hit game. The other was Aug. 29, 2009 at Baltimore. ... The last Royals pitcher to give up 11 runs was Brian Bannister on June 12, 2010 against Cincinnati. ... The Indians also scored 10 runs in the fourth inning on April 8 at Seattle.

Research Notes
You might think that scoring 10 runs in the 4th inning would be rare for the Indians. But its actually the 2nd time they've done it this season. They also did it April 8th vs the Mariners. |
Josh Tomlin (6 IP, 1 ER) has now pitched a quality start (6+ IP, 3 ER or fewer) in each of his first 8 starts this season. That's tied for the longest streak of quality starts to begin a season by an Indians pitcher in the Live Ball Era. Jake Miller also had a streak of 8 straight quality starts to begin the season in 1929. |
