LOS ANGELES -- Vance Worley has provided quite a pick-me-up for the Philadelphia Phillies this season. On Wednesday, they returned the favor for their rookie pitcher.
Ryan Howard and Hunter Pence homered as the Phillies overcame an early six-run deficit and beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 9-8 Wednesday for a three-game sweep. The Phillies won for the 12th time in 13 games and completed a 9-1 road trip, which marks the most successful such trip in club history. They improved baseball's best record to 77-40 -- Philadelphia is 37 games over .500 for the first time since 1977.Down 6-0 after three innings, the Phillies rallied and eventually scored four times in the sixth for a 9-7 lead. Howard's 25th homer was a tiebreaking, two-run shot with two outs.More From ESPNLosAngeles.com
They may have just gotten swept by the Phillies after blowing a six-run lead, but watching a bad Dodgers team for the rest of the season might actually be fun, writes Tony Jackson. Story

Research Notes
Matt Kemp stole his 30th base of the season on Wednesday. He now has reached 25+ HR and 30+ SB in two seasons (also in 2009). The only other Dodger player to do that was Raul Mondesi in 1997 and 1999. In fact, the only other Dodgers with one season of 25+ HR and 30+ SB are Kirk Gibson (1988) and Davey Lopes (1979). | ||||||||||||||||
Ryan Howard hit his 25th HR of the season. Its his 6th season with 25+ HR, tied for the 3rd-most in Phillies history. [+]Most 25-HR Seasons
