W: S. Diamond (11-6)
L: J. Quintana (5-4)
CHICAGO -- Scott Diamond enjoyed plenty of run support from his teammates once again.
Chris Parmelee homered to cap a 10-run fifth inning and Minnesota routed the Chicago White Sox 18-9 on Tuesday night. It was the second time the Twins reached double digits in an inning this year. They also had a 10-run outburst Aug. 6 against Cleveland during Diamond's previous win."I can't complain, that's for sure," Diamond said.Minnesota also batted around in a seven-run second against rookie Jose Quintana, but first-place Chicago remained one game ahead of Detroit in the AL Central. The Tigers lost 3-2 to Cleveland. The Twins pecked away methodically with 17 hits -- only three went for extra bases. Every starter had a hit by the fifth inning."Balls were flying all over the place, as they always do in this ballpark," manager Ron Gardenhire said. "Fortunately, we were on the good side of it. That's crazy. We've seen it here before."Parmelee drove in four runs, while Ryan Doumit had three hits and three RBIs. Doumit hit a solo homer in the seventh and scored three times.Chicago White Sox

Research Notes
From Elias: Philip Humber is the first pitcher in White Sox history to allow 8+ ER on 1/3 IP or fewer (since 1913, the first season of ER in AL)
Jose Quintana allowed 7 ER in 1 1/3 innings and Philip Humber allowed 8 ER in 1/3 IP for the White Sox vs the Twins. This is the 2nd time in the Live Ball Era a team has had 2 pitchers each allow at least 7 ER in 1 1/3 IP or fewer. The other time it happened was August 22, 2007, when the Orioles lost to the Rangers 30-3 and Orioles pitchers Brian Burres and Rob Bell achieved the feat.
The White Sox are the first team to have at least 10 doubles in a game and LOSE since the Detroit Tigers did so against the Washington Senators on July 10, 1935.
The Twins have scored at least 18 runs in a game 6 times in the last 10 seasons. Four of those games have come against the White Sox. [+]Twins Most Runs in a Game - Last 10 Seasons

From Elias: FROM ELIAS:
Philip Humber allowed 8 ER in 1/3 IP tonight
Prior to tonight, the most earned runs allowed in an outing of one inning or less by a pitcher who threw a perfect game earlier that season was 3, by Catfish Hunter of Oakland on August 30, 1968 at California (4 R, 3 ER, 1.0 IP in a start) and Charlie Robertson of the White Sox on June 15, 1922 vs. the Philadelphia Athletics (3 R, 3 ER, 1.0 IP in relief)
Note: Only seasons since 1912 in NL and 1913 in AL were considered - first seasons in those leagues in which earned runs were first officially compiled.
