Good decision by Mike Matheny to finally remove Trevor Rosenthal from the closer's role, although Cards fans will say it's a week too late. He has just three blown saves, but with 28 hits and 21 walks in 24 innings, he's been one of the worst relievers in baseball, not just one of the worst closers. Matheny says he'll go closer by committee, but look for Seung Hwan Oh to eventually take over.

Pirates ready for what Kershaw brings

Despite leading the majors with a 1.57 ERA, Clayton Kershaw hasn't had great career success against several Pirates hitters. Watch tonight's Dodgers-Pirates game at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN and WatchESPN. A good history

Orioles slugger Chris Davis just went opposite field off Drew Smyly for a four-run homer. Or as they call it in baseball vernacular, a grand slam. It's the seventh salami of Davis' career, and his 18th bomb of the season. As you can see, the crowd at Camden Yards was pleased.

Cubs pitcher Jason Hammel quietly is having a nice year at the plate. He singled off of Jose Fernandez of the Marlins and scored in the third inning to tie the game 1-1. Hammel is hitting .273 on the season as the Cubs have a very good hitting rotation.

Chad Kuhl will make his major league debut on Sunday, potentially lining him up for a Saturday start at Oakland. His performance tonight would influence the Game Score projection; I'll try to update that afterward.

The Nationals scratched Stephen Strasburg on Sunday, which casts doubt upon his Week 13 status. Barring good news in the next 24 hours, he's too risky to keep in.
