Big Papi on Yordano Ventura

"He has the plus-fastball. But the one thing he needs to do is show that he can throw his other pitches for a strike. Otherwise, he's in trouble."

K.C. Server receives best tip ever

Royals' pitcher Wade Davis' wife left possibly the best tip to a local Kansas City waiter and Royals fan prior to Game 1 of the World Series: a ticket. Ryan O'Connor got the night of a lifetime, sitting in the players' section. "A pretty cool family"

Game 2 is big for the Royals

Teams down 2-0 in the World Series have lost the championship 79.2% of the time. The Yankees in 1996 were the last team to overcome an 2-0 deficit (against the Braves).

Tonight Jake Peavy will become just the third pitcher to start a World Series game in each league in consecutive seasons.

Giants tough when up 2-0

If the Giants take a 2-0 lead over the Royals tonight, this World Series could be over in a hurry. As a franchise, the Giants have been up 2-0 in the Fall Classic five times, walking away with five titles -- three via sweeps and two 4-1 wins.

Giants jump all over the heat

Yordano Ventura's 96.8 MPH average fastball this season could be bad news for the Royals, as the Giants have a .284 BA vs. pitchers throwing gas 95 or higher, the best in the MLB -- and that rose to .377 in the playoffs.

Ventura Brings The Heat

No MLB starter had a higher average fastball velocity than Game 2 starter Yordano Ventura this season.

Not sure Pablo Sandoval and Hunter Pence need the batting practice, especially if the duo hits in Game 2 like they did in Game 1: combined 4-for-7, 3 R, 4 RBI, 2 2B, HR.

If the Giants win tonight to take a 2-0 lead on the road, it doesn't exactly bode well for their chances. Since 1975, only four teams have won Games 1 and 2 of the World Series on the road, and three of them went on to lose the championship.

Heading into Game 2, Royals' fans are asking for any help they can get, including from The Force.

The Twins have declined their $3.6 million option for 2015 on reliever Jared Burton, the team announced today. Burton gets a $200,000 buyout and will be eligible for free agency after the World Series.
