Indians sign Joba Chamberlain

The veteran reliever, who pitched for the Tigers and Royals in 2015, may be best known for being attacked by bugs during a 2007 playoff game in Cleveland while he was with the Yankees. The Indians tweeted an apology to him for that incident after announcing his signing.

Another reason why the Diamondbacks will be a very dangerous team in 2016: The development of David Peralta, who had a .978 after the ASB.

Braves bring back closer Jim Johnson

The veteran reliever got a one-year, $2.5 million deal. He saved nine games for the Braves last season before being dealt to the Dodgers at the trade deadline. He saved 101 games for the Orioles in 2012 and 2013.

Dave Dombrowski President of the Boston Red Sox told me prior to the off-season his three goals were an impact closer, a right-handed hitting 4th outfielder and a number 1 starter. Kimbrel check 1, Young check 2, now he tries to get David Price for the trifecta.

Where will Johnny Cueto end up signing?

David Schoenfield writes: "My guess is that American League teams will be more hesitant to sign him after his poor results with the Royals, so my five top potential destinations are all National League teams." Bound for NL West?

Zack Greinke's free agent talks are quietly picking up steam, according to two people with knowledge of the situation. The Dodgers and Giants are the principal suitors for Greinke, and it's believed that both teams would like some clarity in the event they lose out in the bidding and have to go in a different direction.

D-backs GM: Johnny Cueto rejected offer

The free-agent RHP turned down an offer from the D-backs earlier this month, GM Dave Stewart told the Arizona Republic. According to multiple reports and first reported by MLB's website, it was a 6-year, $120M deal.

The Red Sox signing of OF Chris Young could open the door for trading Jackie Bradley Jr., but it seems like a quality depth signing to me. Bradley had a big August but also owns a career .298 OBP and Rusney Castillo has yet to show he can hit in the majors. Young is a good fourth outfielder who could start if either falters, leaving Brock Holt to back up in the infield.

It's pretty chilly in Vegas...that means my golf ball is going to go normal distance or nah?? Now I'm really confused...

Wilmer Flores was hit by a pitch while playing for Margarita in his native Venezuela on Thursday. He has not appeared in a game since. However, Flores merely is day to day after getting struck on the left calf, according to a Venezuelan media report.

Law: Zimmermann deal a risky one

Keith Law writes of Jordan Zimmermann's big contract with the Tigers: "Zimmermann was worse across the board in 2015 and now has 1,000-plus innings on that new ligament; any realistic projection going out five years would show some significant probability of one of two things -- major injury or major loss of effectiveness -- happening before the contract ends." Long-term overpay? (Insider)
