Reliever Carlos Torres has agreed to terms on a minor league deal with the Atlanta Braves. Torres opted out after being removed from the 40-man roster by the New York Mets when they needed a spot for the signing of Antonio Bastardo.

Orioles, Gallardo talking 3-year deal

Free-agent SP Yovani Gallardo and the Orioles are deep into negotiations with the expectation that the deal will be in the range of $40 million to $45 million, according to ESPN's Buster Olney and media reports. Gallardo posted a 3.42 ERA in 33 starts last year.

It's expected that if and when the Orioles' deal with Yovani Gallardo is finished, it'll be a 3-year deal in the range of $40-$45m

There has been at least informal conversation between the Orioles and center fielder Dexter Fowler, as they prepare for possible signing.

Yovani Gallardo to the Orioles seems like a bad idea and not just because the Orioles will lose their first-round pick if they sign him. This is a guy who allowed 94 hits in 71 innings in the second half and pitched even six innings just twice. Throw in some velocity issues and he looks a huge risk.

Next stop: Spring training

The Red Sox equipment truck left Fenway Park on Wednesday en route to spring training in Fort Myers, where it was 63 degrees and sunny. Pitchers and catchers report on Feb. 18.
