Including today, David Price has allowed at least four earned runs in six of his 17 starts. Last season, he gave up four or more earned runs in only five of his 32 starts. Rays have hit lefties well all season, but they're without lefty-mashers Steve Pearce, Steven Souza Jr., Logan Morrison and Oswaldo Arcia.

David Price has eight K's through four innings ... but four runs allowed, and that's what matters. Given his high K rate, I still think he can work through some of these issues, but this is the sixth time in 17 starts he's allowed 4+ ER, after doing that five times all of 2015.

Cubs manager Joe Maddon said Travis Wood and Hector Rondon would but unavailable on Wednesday afternoon after Tuesday's 15 inning win. He's hopeful he can get at least 7 innings out of starter Kyle Hendricks in order to rest the bullpen while the Cubs continue a stretch of 24 games without a day off.

Veteran outfielder Chris Young underwent an MRI in Boston on Monday that revealed what John Farrell described as "a little bit more injury to the hamstring than the physical exam in the training room." Initially, Farrell said Young was diagnosed with a Grade 1 (mild) strain. Timetable on Young's return not yet clear, but won't be before the All-Star break.

L.A. crossing its fingers on Kershaw

Clayton Kershaw will return to Los Angeles Wednesday to have his lower-back stiffness further examined. The Dodgers have been a losing team this season in games not started by their ace.

The Mets issued this statement to ESPN's Darren Rovell on why Mike Piazza's NYPD helmet from the first game back after 9/11 (like the jersey) found its way outside the organization and to an auction house: "This item was sold in 2013.
