The Yankees wasted CC Sabathia's strong performance. Sabathia pitched seven innings and only gave up two unearned runs in the 3-1 loss to the Blue Jays. Toronto took two of three in the Bronx.

Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred should be praised and complimented for his strong hand in the significant 82-game suspension of Braves Hector Olivera for his violation of the joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy. However, what should not get lost in the suspension is the agreement and support of the Players Association and their leader Tony Clark. A good sign regarding the relationship between the two parties as they continue negotiations on a new collective bargaining agreement as well as both sides recognizing the seriousness of this type of behavior.

Alex Rodriguez was in his 3rd season in the MLB when 19-year-old Dodgers pitcher Julio Urias was born.

Bryce Harper got yesterday off because he was stone cold. Daniel Murphy gets today off because he's red hot. "He's been on base an awful lot," said Nationals manager Dusty Baker of Murphy, whose.394 average is the best in baseball. "We have to watch it to keep his legs strong because he's always in a squat."

Outside the freak that is Clayton Kershaw, Dellin Betances may be my favorite pitcher to watch. Big guy with an electric arm.

The struggling Yankees reliever Chasen Shreve has a left AC joint sprain. He will be out seven-to-10 days and then be re-evaluated. He is on the DL.

The Yankees CC Sabathia pitched tremendously against the Toronto Blue Jays. Sabathia went seven innings, allowing two unearned runs on two hits. He struck out seven and walked one. His ERA is down to 2.83. He left down, 2-1, in the eighth.

The last time infielder Greg Garcia got optioned to Triple-A, he was batting .600 -- albeit in 10 at-bats -- so he knows there are no guarantees when you have options on a team in which few players do. In fact, the Cardinals told him he likely will be headed back to re-join their Memphis affiliate when Matt Carpenter comes off the paternity list before Saturday's game. Though it required a long flight from Salt Lake City for two days in the nation's capital, Garcia will take it. "Any time you're called to the big leagues, you're not going to complain," he said.

David Schoenfield ESPN Senior Writer

The Royals have probably had the most stable lineups in the majors the past two seasons, with few injuries to position players (plus the most durable catcher in the game in Salvador Perez). With Mike Moustakas now joining Alex Gordon on the DL, the team's depth -- not viewed as a strength -- will be tested.

Matt Carpenter has the right to miss three games on the paternity list, but Cardinals GM John Mozeliak said he likely will return in time to play at Washington Saturday, a day early.

Jackie Bradley Jr. takes some pre-game swings at Fenway Park as he takes aim at 30 straight games hit safely.

Even though his Nationals are in first place with a 28-19 record, Dusty Baker's still sick over getting swept by the Cubs in early May: "If we had just split those guys, we'd be at 30 victories already. So that's still eatin' at my stomach."

When using your head goes wrong! On this date in 1993, Rangers outfielder Jose Canseco had a ball bounce off his head for an Indians home run.

Jackie Bradley Jr., riding a 29-game hitting streak, will bat leadoff for the Red Sox tonight against Colorado as manager John Farrell gives Mookie Betts a planned day off. Betts will return to the No. 1 spot and Bradley will move back down in the order when the Red Sox begin a three-game series Friday night in Toronto.

You know you're a fantasy owner when you're not a Pirates fan but get frustrated when 5-3 lead becomes 8-3 lead in bottom of eighth. No save for Melancon!

Eric Karabell ESPN Senior Writer

Tough one as Royals lose 3B Moustakas for rest of season with torn ACL. Royals no reasonable replacement for fantasy, but available choices include Valencia, Lamb, Nunez, Reynolds.
