Of Adam Wainwright's seven previous outings, six had been quality starts. His 0.94 WHIP in June was ninth in the NL. But his roll came to a definitive halt in Kansas City Monday night, when the Royals teed off on him for six runs on eight hits in the first two innings. Wainwright threw 40 pitches in the second inning alone.

It was an opposite field shot and his second hit of the night. He's being overshadowed at the plate by Kris Bryant who has 2 home runs and a double. The Cubs are pouring it on the Reds.

I asked GM Brian Cashman if hot hitting outfield prospect Aaron Judge has put himself on the radar to be called up. Cashman didn't sound as if that was an option in the short term. He praised Judge for his improvement, but refused to list Judge as a guy the Yankees were thinking of calling up. Judge has hit six homers in his last 33 at-bats. He is batting .266 with 15 homers, 45 RBIs and an .837 OPS in 72 Triple-A games.
