Alex Rios will start in right field for the Royals on Thursday, marking his first postseason appearance after 1,691 regular-season games. According to Elias, it is the most since Carlos Delgado made his postseason debut in 2006 after playing in 1,711 regular-season games.

So we've now lost both starting third baseman and this series is only five innings old. First, Adrian Beltre out with sore back and now possible MVP Josh Donaldson out in a precautionary move after taking knee to head on slide. Replaced by Hanser Alberto and Chris Colabello, respectively.

Blue Jays 3B Josh Donaldson got a knee to the head in the fourth sliding into second base, and he left the game in the fifth as Ezequiel Carrera pinch hit for him. Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre left in the third with lower back stiffness. Follow live

Joe Maddon announced a little surprise in his rotation as 2nd yr player Kyle Hendricks will start Gm.2 of the NLDS in St.Louis. Jon Lester has gm 1, Jake Arrieta takes gm 3. Jason Hammel could be the gm 4 starter if he isn't used up in the bullpen before then.

Beltre a big loss for Rangers

Adrian Beltre, who left the game in the 3rd inning with lower back stiffness, has 18 defensive runs saved, which was tied for first with Nolan Arenado for the most among third basemen. The Rangers lead the Blue Jays 2-0 in the Game 1 of the ALDS in the 4th inning. Follow live
