It took 32 innings, but the Dodgers finally have their first lead in a four-game series at Pittsburgh. All it took was a four-run fifth inning Monday to get it. Dodgers 5-4, B5.

Red Sox dig deep into their depth and call up infielder Mike Miller from Triple-A and option right-hander William Cuevas. Miller, who was batting .256 with a .624 OPS at Pawtucket added to 40-man roster. Sox needed another position player after they were forced over the weekend to option infielder Deven Marrero in favor of an extra pitcher (Cuevas).

Team president Randy Levine on suggestions that Yankees should become sellers at trade deadline: "I don't pay any attention to any of that. That's for you guys [with] nothing more important to write about that to write nonsense. When we decide to become sellers, if we decide to become sellers or if we decide to become buyers, you'll know. The difference is that most of you guys have never run anything and we have a lot of history here of knowing what we're doing. [We have] a lot of confidence in our baseball operations people. So, we'll see what happens. All the rest is just noise."

The Dodgers' Trayce Thompson, who is still getting treatment for a lower back issue that forced him to miss a few games in late May, does not have a hit in his last 16 at-bats after hitting into a force out in the first inning. Thompson did say this weekend that his back is much improved.

The Cubs are calling up 40 year old righty Joel Peralta who they signed recently. He pitched for Joe Maddon in Tampa Bay and is better against lefties than righties over the course of his 12 year big league career. Lefty Gerardo Concepcion is going down to Triple-A Iowa opening a spot for Peralta.
