Cubs prospect hit in head then homers
Catcher Kyle Schwarber, taken in the first round in the 2014 amateur draft, was hit in the head with a bat while catching Monday night. He walked off the field under his own power and hit a homer to lead off the bottom of the inning. (via MLB's website)
Jed Lowrie to have MRI on right thumb
The Astros infielder was injured sliding into home Monday and is going back to Houston today for an MRI. Said Lowrie: "It's swollen and it doesn't feel good, but I'm not going to overreact until I get an MRI."

Bumgarner disagrees with DH debate
Madison Bumgarner doesn't want the DH adopted in the NL, despite Adam Wainwright's Achilles injury: "What if he got hurt pitching? Should we say we can't pitch anymore? I hate what happened to him. ... But I don't think it was because he was hitting. What if he gets hurt getting out of his truck? You tell him not to drive anymore?"
