Jered Weaver to make rehab start

The Angels RHP will make a Class A start Thursday as he continues to rehab an injured left hip. Weaver has been out since late June; his replacement, rookie Andrew Haney, has gone 5-0 with a 1.79 ERA.

Toronto 'ready to do something else'

ESPN's Tim Kurkjian on the Troy Tulowitzki-Jose Reyes trade: "Toronto gets the best shortstop in baseball and he has been for several years now." Kurkjian added the Jays aren't done and will continue to seek out pitching.

Price raising his value

It's as if David Price knew the trade deadline was coming. The Tigers pitcher has lowered his ERA each month this season, making his case to either stick around in Detroit, or demand a high asking price.

Rockies swap Tulo for Jays' Reyes

Toronto already leads MLB in runs this season, and by adding Troy Tulowitzki, they've now acquired a SS who has been better both offensively and defensively than Jose Reyes since he joined the Blue Jays in 2013.

Stephen Strasburg to get a rehab start

The Nationals ace will start in Triple-A Wednesday, his first since leaving an MLB game July 4. That game was just his third after a month on the DL. This season he has made just 13 starts with a 5.16 ERA.

New Toronto SS Troy Tulowitzki has been great at his old home Coors Field, but less so on the road. Per 162 games at home, Tulo has hit .321 with 33 HRs and 119 RBIs. On the road, the numbers slip to .276, 25 HRs, 84 RBIs.

Kipnis clarifies 'accountability' comment

Indians 2B Jason Kipnis said the remark wasn't pointed at manager Terry Francona: "We have a bunch of young adults who are supposed to be considered men. Tito treats us like men so he thinks we should at least be able to do this stuff on our own. Maybe he was giving us too much credit at the time. Maybe that's the only thing you could blame him for ... that he gave us too much credit."

LaTroy Hawkins 'excited' by trade to Jays
