Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said shortstop Aledmys Diaz might be available to pinch hit Wednesday night and could return to the starting lineup in the next "day or two." Diaz got checked out by an eye doctor Wednesday, two days after a foul ball off the plate hit him above the right eye, causing considerable swelling.
