When Dwight Howard starts having his free agent meetings on Friday he'll be seeking a contract starting at $24 million a season according to a source. Howard is expected to conduct his meetings in his hometown of Atlanta. Boston and Atlanta have secured the first meetings with the center. Portland and Charlotte have also expressed interest in Howard, who declined a player option with the Rockets at $23.2 million.

The Lakers announced that they have extended qualifying offers to guards Jordan Clarkson and Marcelo Huertas as well as center Tarik Black. All three players are now restricted free agents.

Bits of Celtics housekeeping via ESPN's Jeff Goodman: The Celtics formally extended a $3.7 million qualifying offer to make Tyler Zeller a restricted free agent. The team also shifted the guarantee dates on the contracts of Amir Johnson ($12 million) and Jonas Jerebko ($5 million) from July 3 to July 7. That affords the team extra time to navigate the initial stages of free agency before making decisions on those players.
