Indiana dominated its last opponent in almost every facet of the game while cruising to a lopsided win.
The Hoosiers put on an even more impressive performance against Purdue just over two weeks ago.Looking to keep pace atop the Big Ten, No. 1 Indiana tries for a second consecutive season sweep of the visiting Boilermakers on Saturday as these archrivals meet for the 200th time.Three days after pulling out an 81-68 win at then-No. 10 Ohio State, Indiana (22-3, 10-2) had little trouble Wednesday upon returning home to face Nebraska. National preseason player of the year Cody Zeller had 16 points and Christian Watford scored 13 to go along with 11 rebounds as the Hoosiers won 76-47.Victor Oladipo also scored 13 for Indiana, which went 8 of 16 from 3-point range and held a 36-24 edge on the glass."We're not trying to set records, we're trying to win a national championship," coach Tom Crean said. "We have 27 (points) at the half but yet we end up with 76 and win by 29. That's really good."Indiana's latest effort shouldn't come as much of a surprise to Purdue (12-13, 5-7), which was blown out 97-60 on Jan. 30 by the Hoosiers -- their largest win ever in West Lafayette."It is kind of neat because IU has had so many great teams over the years and to be the biggest win, it's always nice to be part of history," Zeller said afterward. "And there's always a little extra here at Purdue."In addition to posting 11 rebounds, Zeller scored 19 points to lead all five starters in double figures in that game. Freshman A.J. Hammons scored a season-high 30 for Purdue."Cody Zeller is a guy that you have to give a lot of attention to, but then you have to be careful because he's such an unselfish player," said Boilermakers coach Matt Painter, whose team has dropped the last three in this series by an average of 21.7 points."I think he's probably the No. 1 guy in our league in terms of making his teammates better, just because he plays so hard every possession, and he won't force things if it's not there."While the Hoosiers are second in the country with 82.9 points per game, they've also thrived defensively. Indiana is limiting opponents to a conference-low 38.1 percent from the field."That's what you should lean on to start with, regardless of if your offense is going or not," forward Will Sheehey said. "It's funny because there is a direct correlation between when we're playing well on defense and how well we're playing on offense. If teams are getting easy baskets, you can't get the ball out and you can't run as well. If we get stops, we're going to score on the other end."Purdue enters the weekend looking to avoid a fifth loss in six games after falling 79-59 at Illinois on Wednesday. Terone Johnson had 18 points while Hammons and D.J. Byrd added 10 apiece for the Boilermakers, who shot 38.2 percent.Purdue has gone 11-3 when shooting above 40.0 percent compared to 1-10 when it doesn't.The Boilermakers have dropped 16 of their last 19 matchups against Top 25 foes, including five straight by an average of 19.6 points.SPONSORED HEADLINES
