Michigan 65, Youngstown State 56

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) -- Courtney Sims scored 18 points and Lester Abram and Brent Petway each added 13 to power Michigan to a 65-56 victory over Youngstown State on Wednesday.

Petway also grabbed 10 rebounds to register his fifth career double-double for the Wolverines (6-0), who have held five of their six opponents this season to fewer than 60 points.

Keston Roberts and Quin Humphrey scored 18 and 10 points, respectively, to lead the Penguins (2-3). Humphrey, who came into the game averaging 20 points, was held to three in the first half.

After Youngstown State took a 4-3 lead, Michigan used an 11-1 run to pull ahead for good. The Wolverines maintained a double-digit advantage throughout most of the first half, allowing the Penguins to get only as close as seven points.

Michigan -- which led 35-23 at halftime -- continued to dominate in the second half, hitting eight of its first 11 field goal attempts and holding Youngstown State to 2-of-9 shooting while building a 54-29 lead with 12:13 left.

The Penguins could only close to within nine points the rest of the game.
