HAMILTON, N.Y. (AP) -- Chuck Harris scored eight of his 13 points in overtime to lead Canisius College in a 78-73 win over Colgate (1-2) Wednesday night.
Corey Herring led Canisius (1-2) with 22 points followed by Darnell Wilson with 14.Kendall Chones and Jon Simon contributed 18 points apiece for Colgate, while Daniel Waddy added 11.Colgate scored the first four points in overtime on four free throws by Waddy for a 70-66 lead, but Canisius came back with a 7-1 run to take a 73-71 lead.With the Golden Griffs trailing 71-70, Herring hit a 3-pointer to put Canisius ahead for good, 73-71. Harris hit a pair of free throws with 34 seconds left to seal the win.Canisius had a 39-33 lead at halftime behind 17 points by Herring, who made 15 of the last 17 points for the Griffs.In the second half, Colgate came back to tie the game 45-45 on a dunk by Chones.The lead swung back and forth before Wilson tied the game 66-66 to send the contest into overtime.
