ATHENS, Ohio (AP) -- Jerome Tillman scored 20 points to lead Ohio to an 80-72 season-opening win over New Mexico State, spoiling the debut of new Aggies coach Marvin Menzies.
Trailing most of the game, the Aggies went on a 22-11 run to regain the lead at 66-65 with 6:10 remaining.
The Bobcats (1-0) retook the lead on Tillman's jumper with 2:47 left, making the score 72-70, and Ohio outscored New Mexico State 8-2 to close out the game.
Menzies joined New Mexico State following two seasons as an assistant at Louisville.
