FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) -- Penn set an NCAA, modern-day record for the lowest first-half point total in a 60-30 loss to Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday night.

After going scoreless for the first 13 minutes, 15 seconds, Penn scored just six points in the first half. That's the lowest by a Division I team since 1986, when the shot clock was implemented. The previous record holder was Central Michigan, which scored seven against Ohio on Jan. 14, 2006. The NCAA record for longest scoreless stretch to start a game is 13:53.

Casey Wohlleb scored 17, Adam Liddell had 13 and Terike Barrowes 10 to lead Florida Gulf Coast (4-9). Andreas Schreiber scored eight to lead Penn (4-8). When freshman forward Tyler Bernardini scored with 6:45 left in the first half, Penn trailed 14-2. By that time, the Quakers had committed 16 turnovers and missed their first 12 shots.

Florida Gulf Coast led 30-6 at halftime on a 3-pointer by forward Landon Adler at the buzzer.

Penn shot just 5.9 percent and committed 23 turnovers.

However, the Quakers were 4-of-4 from the free-throw line. Florida Gulf Coast's biggest lead was 60-20. The Quakers finished at 19 percent shooting and had 35 turnovers.

In its first season of Division I, Florida Gulf Coast will play its first Atlantic Sun Conference game Thursday at North Florida.
