ATLANTA -- The Florida Gators took a chomp out of NCAA history with the repeat they simply had to have. Now they want more. They want to be called one of the best teams of all time.
This was the seventh rematch of teams in the title game that had played in the regular season. Five of the last six times, the team that lost the regular-season battle won the title game. Florida wasn't taking that, beating Ohio State 86-60 Dec. 23 and again on Monday. The Gators became the seventh school to win back-to-back titles. Here's the list:
The Gators largest margin of victory in their last five games of the NCAA Tournament was 10 points. Only two other teams in tournament history won each of its last five games, all by 10 points or fewer: North Carolina in 1982 (all five games) and Arizona in 1997 (all six games). • Read more Elias Says.
