Singler, Duke jump out quickly, easily handle Presbyterian in 2K Sports Classic
DURHAM, N.C. -- Only at Duke could there be so much dissatisfaction with a 30-point victory. The Blue Devils (No. 5 ESPN/USA Today, No. 8 AP) opened a season of high expectations Monday night with an 80-49 rout of Presbyterian in the 2K Sports Classic, but there weren't many people from Duke who were content with it.Not Kyle Singler, who scored 12 of his 19 points during the decisive first half but uncharacteristically missed seven shots. Not Nolan Smith, who scored 15 points but admitted the Blue Devils "were just off."
• Kyle Singler had 19 points and 10 rebounds, his fifth career double-double, to lead the Blue Devils to their 60th straight non-conference home win and 27th straight home opener victory.
• Duke became the fourth school in NCAA history to record 1,850 wins (after Kentucky, North Carolina and Kansas).
• Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski won his 804th game, tying Eddie Sutton for fifth place on the Division 1 all-time coaching victories list.
