NEW YORK -- Showing poise down the stretch and playing stellar defense, Michigan pulled off its first win over a top-five team in 11 years.DeShawn Sims scored 18 points, including an emphatic dunk on a backdoor cut with time running down, and Manny Harris added 15 for the Wolverines in a 55-52 upset of No. 4 UCLA on Thursday night in the 2K Sports Classic.
• Michigan ended a 12-game losing streak against ranked opponents and avenged last season loss to UCLA. It was the first win on a neutral court vs. a ranked team for Michigan since defeating Purdue in the Big Ten tournament in 1998.
• After trailing by six at the end of the half, Michigan held UCLA to 23 second-half points on 8-for-23 shooting.
• UCLA ended a four-game win streak against Michigan, 13-game win streak vs. unranked opponents, 18-game win streak vs. unranked non-conference teams and a 16-game win streak in games played in November.
• Darren Collison finished with 13 points. It is just the fourth loss for UCLA when Collison scores at least 12 points (47-4).
