Christmas scores 29 points; Temple ends Duquesne's dreams of return to NCAA
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. -- Temple is back on the map in college basketball, on the road to the NCAA tournament for the second straight year.Dionte Christmas scored 29 points and the fourth-seeded Owls (22-11) became the first team to win consecutive Atlantic 10 Conference tournaments in eight years with a 69-64 victory over Duquesne on Saturday night.
• The Owls won their second straight A-10 tournament title, ending the Dukes' bid for their first NCAA tournament berth since 1977.
• Temple is 5-0 against the Dukes in A-10 tournament action.
• Dionte Christmas led Temple with 29 points, becoming the fourth Owl in history to score 2,000 career points, just one day after becoming the first Temple player to score 600 points in three straight seasons.
