No. 14 Hoyas snap No. 11 Pitt's 8-game win streak, 31-game home run
PITTSBURGH -- The score was tied late, and the Pitt students were stomping their floor-level sets so passionately it caused the grandstands to ripple like a wave. Pitt's home-court advantage is one of the best in college basketball, and Georgetown knew this would be difficult.Turns out it wasn't quite as hard as the Hoyas expected.
• Chris Wright led all scorers with 27 points as the Hoyas won for the fifth time in their last six games against ranked opponents. Wright entered the game averaging 17.6 PPG over his previous seven games.
• Greg Monroe (13 points, 11 rebounds) recorded his seventh double-double of the season in the win, which snapped a three-game losing streak vs. Pittsburgh.
• For the Panthers, Gilbert Brown led the way with 20 points, while Ashton Gibbs -- who entered the game averaging 20.0 PPG over his previous five games -- contributed just eight points on 3-for-16 shooting.
• The loss snapped a 31-game home winning streak for the Panthers, which had been the second-longest active streak in the nation.
