ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Even in a tight game, New Mexico point guard Dairese Gary was having fun.Gary scored a career-high 25 points, including nine over the final 1:30, and always seemed to have the ball in his hands down the stretch as No. 23 New Mexico beat Brigham Young (No. 10 ESPN/USA Today, No. 12 AP) 76-72 on Wednesday night to snap the Cougars' 15-game winning streak.
• BYU's 15-game win streak was snapped and the Cougars lost for just the second time this season, their other loss coming on Dec. 2 at Utah State.
• New Mexico's Dairese Gray, who had three career 20-point games entering the contest and had never scored more than 21 points in a game, went for a career-high 25 points, 12 of them coming from the free-throw line.
• New Mexico beat BYU for just the second time in their last nine meetings.
• New Mexico is 4-0 this season against teams ranked entering the game.
