Temple holds off Richmond rally to claim another A-10 championship
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. -- Junior forward Lavoy Allen walked to midcourt seconds after the final buzzer in the Atlantic 10 Conference championship game, smiled and raised three fingers.
No. 17 Temple was once again the conference champion, although this time the top-seeded Owls got a scare from third-seeded Richmond in a 56-52 victory on Sunday.Fast Facts
• Temple won its third straight Atlantic 10 tournament, just the second team to win three or more A-10 tourneys. It joins Massachusetts, which won five straight from 1992-96.
• Temple improved to 14-1 when playing as the top seed in the Atlantic 10 tournament.
• Temple hit 12 of 14 free throws, while Richmond was just 1 for 5. Richmond fell to 0-2 all-time in the tournament final.
• Richmond held Temple without a field goal for the final 6:32, but never led in the game.
