JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- California's distractions now seem about as distant as the Pacific Ocean.That disappointing loss in the Pac-10 tournament? Getting sent across the country to open the NCAA tournament? The suspension of a starter?The Golden Bears overcame them all -- and showed even more resiliency in the first round against Louisville.
• Cal improved the Pac-10 to 2-0 in the first round, joining the WCC as the only mulitple-bid leagues to go undefeated in the tournament in the first round.
• The Bears had a huge advantage from 3-point range, shooting 8 for 15 to Louisville's 5 for 19.
• Cal finished the game on a 15-4 run and went 7 for 7 from the free throw line over the final 6 minutes.
• Louisville's Rakeem Buckels, who averages 3.3 points a game, finished with a team-high 20 points.
