HARRISONBURG, Va. -- Bradford Burgess scored 22 points, Jamie Skeen had 17 and Virginia Commonwealth held off James Madison's late surge, winning 70-66 on Saturday.

The Rams (19-6, 11-2 Colonial Athletic Association), who have won 10 of their last 11 games, rebounded after being upset by Northeastern 91-80 on Feb. 2.

James Madison would not go away after VCU built an eight-point advantage early in the second half. The Dukes tied the game at 64-64 with 1:58 left to play when Julius Wells knocked down two free throws.

Skeen answered with two free throws and Joey Rodriguez followed with a jumper, putting the Rams ahead by four. James Madison's Devon Moore scored on a layup, but the Dukes (17-8, 7-6) did not come closer after Rodriguez's two free throws.

Denzel Bowles led James Madison with 22 points and nine rebounds, shooting 10 of 16 from the floor. Moore had 13 points.
