GREELEY, Colo. -- Devon Beitzel scored 13 of his 27 points over the final 5 minutes, helping top-seeded Northern Colorado earn a spot in the NCAA tournament for the first time in school history with a 65-60 win over Montana on Wednesday night in the finals of the Big Sky tournament.The Bears (21-10) have only been postseason-eligible since 2007 after moving up from the Division II ranks.
• Northern Colorado won the Big Sky championship and clinched a berth in the NCAA tournament for the first time in school history.
• The Bears moved from Division II to Division I in the 2003-04 season, joined the conference in 2006 and weren't eligible to play for conference and NCAA championships until 2007-08.
• Northern Colorado is 14-0 at home this season, including two wins against Montana.
• The Bears become the 13th team to clinch an automatic berth to the NCAA tournament.
