ARLINGTON, Texas -- LaMarcus Reed and Kevin Butler scored 16 points each to lead Texas-Arlington to an 85-46 win against Southeastern Louisiana on Wednesday night in the Southland Conference opener for both teams.

Each of the 12 active players for the Mavericks (8-5, 1-0) scored.

Roosevelt Johnson had 16 points and eight rebounds and Jan Petrovcic added 10 points and seven rebounds for the Lions (5-7, 0-1). Southeastern Louisiana shot just 36.4 percent (20 of 55) from the floor and had 19 turnovers.

A 20-2 run over a 5:19 stretch in the first half helped Texas-Arlington take permanent control. Reed had six points during the surge, which gave the Mavericks a 37-20 lead with 2:20 remaining before halftime.

Texas-Arlington, which snapped a four-game losing streak in conference openers, has five victories by at least 26 points this year.
