HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- DeAndre Kane made two free throws with 14 seconds left to give Marshall a 65-64 win over Central Florida on Saturday night in a battle of Conference USA's unbeaten.
The Thundering Herd (13-4, 4-0) scored 12 points off of six Knights' turnovers, while holding them to 37-percent shooting in the first half (10 of 27) to lead 37-32 at halftime.
Marshall led 60-53 with 4:15 left, then UCF used a 9-1 run to push ahead 62-61, taking its first lead since 7:41 remained in the first half. The run ended with Crittle's layup with 1:34 to go. The two teams then traded baskets until Kane's foul shots.
Marshall outrebounded UCF 43-39, grabbing 16 offensive boards.
Maryland point guard Melo Trimble, considered a lock to leave the program before struggling in the second half last season, has withdrawn from the NBA draft and will return for his junior season.
Louisville's Chinanu Onuaku, who recently underwent a medical procedure to correct a heart rhythm issue detected during the combine, will keep his name in the NBA draft pool.
Andrew White III will return to the Nebraska men's basketball team next season after removing his name from the NBA draft.
