HAMILTON, N.Y. -- Ella Ellis scored 20 of his 22 points in the second half as Army broke open a tie game to defeat Colgate 79-59 Wednesday night and sweep the season series for the first time since 2004.

Tied at 33 at halftime, the Black Knights (12-14, 5-6 Patriot League) shot 62.1 percent after the break (18 of 29), knocking down 9 of 13 from long range.

Josh Herbeck added 21 points and Julian Simmons 18 for Army, which made 12 of 25 3-pointers for the game compared to Colgate's 2 of 13.

Ellis hit a trey to open the second half, sparking an 18-6 run. After the Raiders (7-19, 1-10) got within four, the Black Knights answered with a 24-4 burst, with Ellis and Herbeck scoring 12 points apiece.

John Brandenburg scored 14 to lead Colgate, which has dropped four straight and also lost to Army 91-75 on Jan. 18.
