AMES, Iowa -- Percy Gibson led three Iowa State players with double-doubles by scoring 17 points and grabbing 10 rebounds as Iowa State beat Southern 82-59 on Friday night in both teams' season opener.
Southern led by as many as 11 points midway through the first half. But Iowa State pulled ahead 41-39 at halftime and opened the second half on a 25-11 run.
Derick Beltran had a game-high 26 points for Southern.
