PULLMAN, Wash. -- Brock Motum added 23 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for his fourth career double-double to help Washington State beat Eastern Washington University 88-69 Saturday in the season opener for both teams.

Mike Ladd and DaVonte Lacy each added 15 points for Washington State and D.J. Shelton pulled down 12 rebounds as the Cougars outrebounded the Eagles 47-34.

Justin Crosgile added 28 points and had seven 3-pointers for Eastern Washington. Crosgile hit five 3-pointers late in the second half, but it would not be enough as the Eagles struggled from the field most of the night.

Washington State's defense held the Eagles to 34 percent from the field (25 of 72). The Cougars shot 54 percent from the field, 61 percent in the second half.
