BOISE, Idaho -- Derrick Marks had 16 points and eight rebounds as Boise State defeated Texas Southern 81-63 Sunday in the season-opening contest for both schools.
Boise State used a 21-4 spurt over a six-minute span of the first half to take a 20-point lead. Marks began the run with two free throws, and a three-point play by Buckner boosted the Broncos' lead to 33-19. A three-point play by Watkins completed the surge and made it 41-21 with 3:33 remaining in the half.
The Broncos led 49-30 at halftime and led comfortably the rest of the contest. Boise State's lead topped out at 26 points.
